Hello Heroes!

In August, Collective of Heroes​ will be doing a “Mash-Up” event! This is where people will produce art of two superheroes mashed up, amalgam-style, and shown off on our social media platforms. One stipulation, one of the heroes has to be from the Collective of Heroes. https://collectiveofheroes.net. The other can be from anywhere else.

We’ll be promoting this event throughout July, to get enough art in for August, so there’s a month to get the art in (deadline July 31st). It would be great to get some art in from the other Collective members, but this is open to everyone and it would be also great if we could all use our social media accounts to promote this.

Sorry, guys. No update tonight. My computer has decided to suddenly flip out on me and display properly. I haven’t been able to get any work done.

Hey guys, it’s Taylor

I’ll be in Charleston again over New Year’s and can only do so much to prepare ahead so the next week will have a slightly different Schedule.

This coming Monday’s Strip will happen on Tuesday which is Christmas Eve, since it’s part of a two-parter Christmas special which will finish on Wednesday (Christmas Day.) Because of this, Wednesday’s strip will count as the second strip for that week so there will be no update on Friday.

Things will be back to normal on Monday the 30th just in time for New Years and in time for me to get back to work.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and I’ll see you when I get back.

Normally on this date, I would have another strip up about it being my birthday and me being too lazy to create a strip, but with my back injury, I got behind and am instead now working on a Valentines comic for Thursday.

We’ll just chock this up to being the ultimate “I’m too lazy to make a strip” strip.

This Back injury is killing me.
Not because it hurts but because I can’t do any drawing or creating of any sort. 🙁

I thought it might be neat to do a blog series regarding what goes on behind the scenes of a webcomic like ours.

First off, let’s talk a little about the origins of Super Skooled. Taylor and I both had our own projects that we wanted to prioritize, but for years we had not made much progress on them. After going to a comic con and seeing what other creative people were accomplishing, I finally approached Taylor about restarting Super Skooled, which we had toyed around with in the past. You can see evidence of our early efforts at the beginning of the strip.

The things that really made the difference this time were determination and accountability. Part of making any creative project is just rolling up your sleeves and pulling a Shia Labeouf. There is simply no substitute or workaround for hard work. Between the two of us, Taylor and I have put in countless hours simply sitting down in front of our computers, working on comics. If you want to make a comic of any kind, you must also have an insatiable appetite to create, a desire that overrides all of the myriad temptations that will be thrown at you.

But I would say that while determination is important, accountability is just as or even more critical. Taylor and I scheduled regular meetings where we would work on the strip. We continue these meetings to this day. While the best meetings are in-person, we make sure to touch base even when that’s not possible, even if it is over the phone. These regular meetings have kept us on pace when it comes to the release of the strip.

No matter how you look at it, without these two factors, Super Skooled would not exist.

Dear Reader (I know there’s only one of you at this point),

We had a small goof-up with the site this week; and as a result, we had a missing strip that didn’t get published. Everything is on track right now; but if things didn’t make sense this week, that’s why. Everyone involved with this egregious mistake will soon be fired. Consequently, I have been fired–jk jk.

Well, now that the All-Star Olympics are over, it seems that Team Klutz Finally made it to the big leagues with his own line of sports brand cereal covers.

No, not that one (He didn’t quite make the big leagues), but a local budget knock-off cereal is just as good, right?
